Craftsmanship: An Arizona Designer Craftsmen Juried Exhibition

Congratulations to our ASU Metals students/alumni/faculty that were juried into the ADC Craftsmanship exhibition!
Participants include Victoria Altepeter, Lynette Andreasen, Erik Bogner, Jonathan Brown, Holly Carter, Nissa Kubly, Becky McDonah, and Tedd McDonah.
A special congrats to Tedd McDonah and Victoria Altepeter for winning Juror's Awards and to Erik Bogner for winning an Honorable Mention award.

The show will run September 22 - October 3 at Arizona State University's Gallery 100.

Metallink Blacksmithing Demo

On Saturday, Metallink members met at ASU's smithy for a blacksmithing demo by Tedd McDonah. Everyone created S-hooks from square stock, forging down tapers on the ends of the steel and twisting the metal with a wrench. Despite the heat, all had a great time smithing. Thanks, Tedd! Patterned Metals

Last fall ASU students had the chance to take a course focused solely on patterning metals with Tedd McDonah. Tedd's expertise in this area was evident to the group, as we got the chance to see his work with patterned metals first hand. We learned how to create mokume gane and damascus steel billets, and were instructed on many different ways of patterning. The class entailed lots of hard work, but was completely worth it.
